For both pregnancies, I was managed by a perinatologist (MFM) until delivery. However, in the OR, it was an OB-GYN resident who performed the c-section (with the MFM assisting). The first pregnancy was initially managed by OB-GYN and there was a big difference. I didn't think she had a good handle...

I would caution everyone to e cautious about trying to make medical decisions based on clinical research that they find. There are are lot of data to sort through and it takes a lot of experience to really determine which is valid and accurate (good quality stuides). You are bound to meet women who never...

I think once you are <6.5 or so is actually fine. Shooting for <6% is actually dangerous as there is a lot of associated hypoglycemia. The biggest life-threatening complication in tightly-controlled T1DM when young is accidental death. The goal is to aim low safely. The key is to keep your glucose...

Hi Megan - Congratulations on your pregnancy! I have had T1DM for 21 years too. Had my first baby almost 6 years ago and the second 2 years ago. Both were c-sections. I had an idealized birth plan that went out the window when the induction didn't do anything. I am SOOO glad we made that choice!...
