Jenna, I like that analogy. Never thought of it like that, but I certainly hope for the day when diabetes is just in the background not such a consuming part of our lives.

Hi everyone,

I started a blog on raising twins. One of my guys has Type 1 diabetes and one does not.

I keep it pretty light and easy to read because, let's face it, our days can get pretty heavy at times.

Welcome aboard! I (prefer to) believe we all struggle from time to time. I find it oddly comforting that - just like none of my good times last forever - neither do the tougher moments. 23 years of this is - well - a lot - and it's great to see you active and reaching out and engaged in caring for yourself. I know it's been mentioned already but I can't help but say it again - we've got a lot of good people and resources here and while I think the REASON we're all here sucks - I've found myself much grateful for the company, insight and the many assists from those on these pages.

I'm looking forward to seeing you around the posts!

Welcome aboard - though I know it's not a trip you'd have asked to join. July 4th?!?!?!? - Wow - fireworks and insulin... oy - i guess that'll be too easy to remember. I've had T1D a little longer and it is definitely nice to have the (if only virtual) company.

I think I would suggest having your son drive ALL THE TIME. when I first started driving, the adrenaline would do the same sort of thing to my BG, but because I drove so often Itsort of became routine, and I don't usually get the adrenaline rush anymore.... it only happens if something surprising happens, like another car suddenly pulls out right in front of me :P

I also definitely agree that testing beforehand is really important. I would also say to have emergency supplies in the car, just in case
