Hi everyone! I'm also new to Juvenation! I've always wanted to know somebody else that has diabetes :) I've had type 1 diabetes for about five years, I think. I was quickly able to get it under control, but then I started to get lazy about taking care of myself and was in self denial about diabetes for awhile, but now I am back on track and excited to get this under control and have an awesome HbA1c!!! :D

Shot the Dog sounds pretty cool. When I was a kid I practiced giving shots to my teddy bear.

My son is 6 and loves Super Mario 3D. I'm terrible at it and he always beats me.

My 6 yr old son was just diagnosed w/T1 late August. It has been a complete whirlwind. My son is awesome with everything. He was giving himself shots the day after his daignosis. His father and I on the other hand have had a difficult time with the worrying and feeling so "bad" that we "gave" this to him. He went on the pump in November and he has been thriving in sports & school. It has been inspiring to watch him grow.

This is my most visited website as I too feel the same way that there are others who can relate to the day to day challenges of having T1D! Its nice to have somewhere to come when you are having problems with control or whatever it is and it feels even better when you help someone else out who is having problems :) And its also so great to read about people who have had the disease for a long time and are still living full, healthy lives.

Welcome aboard! I (prefer to) believe we all struggle from time to time. I find it oddly comforting that - just like none of my good times last forever - neither do the tougher moments. 23 years of this is - well - a lot - and it's great to see you active and reaching out and engaged in caring for yourself. I know it's been mentioned already but I can't help but say it again - we've got a lot of good people and resources here and while I think the REASON we're all here sucks - I've found myself much grateful for the company, insight and the many assists from those on these pages.

I'm looking forward to seeing you around the posts!
