Does anyone elses blood sugar go really high when they get big adrenaline rushes?

It happens to me every time i go on a crazy ride at the fair or carnival.

  • Heck. Yes.

LOL try waiting in line for Disneyland when I was little; I felt sick every time I was in line for a scary ride (Ie Haunted mansion, indiana jones). It still happens :) Like when I watched the Indiana Jones movie for the first time :)

  • Adrenalin usually drops your blood sugar, the rise may come later.  That is how it works for me anyhow.

  • I never noticed it on rides, I will have to check next time.

But, I do notice it when I play hockey. After my game about 80% of the time my sugars are really high no matter what they are before my game. It doesn't happen when I exercise, so it must be adrenaline because of the game situation verses just working out.

I wonder if there had ever been a study on adrenaline and blood sugars?

Maybe you should spearhead one :)
