The Water Experiment: Day 1/Alyssa: HYDRATEDEveryone participating in The Water Experiment can track their results however they prefer; I, however, have decided to post mine in my blog. I have also divided my results into two categories: weekend and weekday. This is because during the weekday, I am constantly more active than I am on the weekends. Therefore, because my activity level is less constant on Saturday and Sunday than Monday through Friday, my blood sugars naturally tend to run higher. I'll keep track also of the difference between days I was hydrated versus dehydrated in each of these categories so it's a fair comparison.
The time on my meter actually runs about 11 hours different from the actual time. So, for example, when my meter says I tested at 3:30 am, really I tested at about 4:15 pm. I'm still trying to figure out how to fix this; but it's important to keep in mind. I also list my blood sugars in mg/dL.
My plans for these blog posts: in addition to listing my blood sugars I plan to upload my pump as I have been wearing a CGMS for the past two weeks. If I get the chance, after dinner tonight I'll upload it and update this post (so if you're reading this later and it seems contradictory as I talk about updating it with CGMS results and they are already listed, it has probably already been done). I've kept track of the time of day I've had water, so I will upload the CGMS graph and mark these times on it. You know: look for a pattern.
Other than that, my blood sugars so far today have been: (and will be updated again, listed below when done)94 252 173 214 177Odd; seems like I tested more than 5 times today. Average blood sugar for today so far: 182 mg/dL.While I write this post, so far I have drunken 66 oz. I plan to drink another 22 oz. (over my target) before the day is over.
Later tonight, I will post the day's average blood sugar and include any updates.
UPDATE:Blood sugars today have been:94 252 173 214 177 188 210 290 305 317 257 193Average for today: 222 (.5)Wow. Today has apparentley not been so good in the world of blood sugars... despite all the water.
And before I finish up here,Total water intake: 132 oz.
(I am looking to upload my pump tomorrow night and will post the graphs when I can)
Maybe the BG's the day AFTER drinking all the H2O will be more reflective? It may take awhile for the H20 to trickle into cells? Just a thought.
