It was the fall of 2001 in mid-October. I remember that it was a Wednesday and I had the day off because I was scheduled to work the weekend. At the time, I was a discharge planning nurse at the local hospital. I didn’t like working the weekends at the hospital. It is a lot busier because we had to work the whole hospital with one other discharge planner and a social worker. My husband had the day off as well. The kids were in school and we were trying to decide what to do for the day. We discussed going to see a movie, but it was such a beautiful day, we decided to go roller blading instead. We put our blades on and took off down the street to skate around the park. The park has been there for many years and the sidewalks are cracked and worn.
