Bradley and Me

I have had Type 1 since 1970. I am a registered nurse and have a medical alert dog, named Bradley, who alerts me to drops in my blood glucose. My blog is about managing my disease with the assistance of Bradley and what it is like having a service dog.

The cruise countdown has begun:  24 days.  I am so ready for a vacation.  Mexico will be nice and time away with my fiance for a week should be amazing!  Then there are the other things that I need to think about as a person with diabetes.  Today’s post deals with one of these important issues:  blood glucose control.  I have been thinking more and more about how to manage my blood sugars during the week on the ship.  Multiple daily injections?  Pump?  Combination of injections and pump? I also will not have the assistance of Bradley to let me know when my BG is dropping, because he won’t be going with us…(continued at http://www.bradleyandme.net/?p=1686)

  • I'm right there w/ you.  Going on a cruise in March, 2011.  I cruised two years ago just after getting my ping.  The water proof thing is great.  No reservations about jumping in, and no need to pack pens/supplies for time off the pump.  I chose the black color, but whatever goes w/ your bathing suit I guess.  

    Not sure how long it would take for you to get one, but have a great vacation whatever you decide.
