Dr. Lo is my primary care physician.  At least that is what my Blue Shield ID card says, but the doctor who is really my primary care physician is my endocrinologist, Dr. Kazemi.  He is the one that I see every three months, who knows all the ins and outs of my daily life with diabetes, greets me and my dog by name, and does all of the necessary labwork to make sure that my diabetes isn’t wreaking havoc with any of my other organ systems.  None-the-less, I thought that I should check in with my PCP, Dr. Lo, especially since I’ve only seen her once since I started with her in January.  As my PCP, she is the “gatekeeper” for my HMO plan, and the one who writes out all the necessary referrals for me to see any specialists.
