I remember being told when I was diagnosed with type 1 at the age of 12 that I would never be able to have children... and here I sit, 21 years later... with a perfect 3 year old, a 10 month old and the shocking news that I am pregnant again!!
I wish that finding out I was pregnant could be like what you see on TV... but instead it is filled with panic! What was my last A1C?! My sugars have been horrible lately! What damage have I already done to this sweet little baby? A frantic call to the Endo, a call to the high risk OB... oh, and at some point tell the hubbie :)
It is going to be a wild ride! I hope my fingers are ready for some abuse!! Wish us luck!
Congrats, Katie! And best of luck! Keep us updated on how everything goes. :)
You did twice, you can do it again!!!!!! Yea for you, Congrats!!!!!! Don't worry too much the baby will just be a little sweeter!!! LOL
Don't worry, Katie! I was crazy vigilant with #1 and not quite so much with baby #2...who came out (easily) full term at a little under 10 lbs. and a bit of a low blood sugar. He quickly bounced back and has been fine ever since, an active, healthy, baseball playing, mess making 9-year old! Just get right on track and follow "the rules," with your doctor right there with you do help steer you through. Best to you and your growing family!
Katie, I too was told not to have kids. I have been a diabeitc since I was 11 and now I am 31 and I am scared to even try. I really want a baby with my hubby but the thoughts about my A1C, my stress. Is it harder to get pregnant?
I had heard that it may be harder to get pregnant with a bad A1C, but mine was 6.9 and I get pregnant... which is crazy because we tried for THREE years with our first!
Thank you all so much for your kind words of encouragement. My sugars have been really hard to control. I am using my sensor, which I find to be really annoying? I think the worrying is making it worse.
Well I am not looking forward to trying for three years LOL I am getting older :) does the timing just have to be perfect? Did you and do you have a lot of tests for abnormalities???
