Pump

My son has type 1 and I wanted to know if anyone can help me out. It's getting near summertime and he is on the pump and is there anything you can do to keep the site from coming off his skin? It seems if he is in the water for a period of time that the glue comes loose and we are always changing his site after he goes into the water. HELP.........

  • there are better skin preps and dressings for water use.   I use IV3000 for my CGM it's super-tape.

Skin Prep or IV Prep are most often mentioned but there is also ShieldSkin by the Mentor Company and Skin Tac by Mason Labs

    good luck!

  • Joe,

I actually have had bad experience with IV3000 it doesnt not stick to my skin at all. But everyone else I know it sticks fine! I tried skin prep and IV prep those seem to make the tape stickier but, I dont have as much problem with my infusion tape coming up in the summer as i do with cgm.

  •     There is skin prep called skin-tac.  The company will send you a sample if you request it.  It seems to work pretty well.

  • My son is 8 and on a pump also.  I haven't used any of those skin preps/tac, but will try them this summer.  Last summer, I covered his site with a large waterproof band aid.  We have a pool and he spends a great deal of time in it!  It worked great.
