What Pump?

  • Comments 8

Ok im trying to decide between the Animas, accuchek, omnipod and medtronic pumps. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Hey Rob,

I see that ur looking for a pump, one of your choices is the pump i have. which is the Accu-Check Spirit? i think that wat ur meaning with the accucheck. if not u can regard this. :) any ways i would take the accu-check one because of these: it simple, not complicated, very nice helpful ppl will do ALL they can to get u this pump ( i know from expierence), it affordable more than the others, it comes wit a back up pump, and a PDA to do all ur figuring for u, gets u off shots.....um i cant think of anymore rite now. but it a VERY good pump!! i love it to death, and i dont know what i would do with out it. soo tell me wat u think, and if u have anymore questions u can comment back.

  • hey rob, I just got the one touch ping..been on it since monday. it has only been a few days but I already love it! I don't even notice it is there. it is so light weight, has color colors, a color screen to make it very easy to use, the menus are simple and easy to navigate (although they do take a few extra button pushed compared to other pumps), it comes with a meter that is also a remote so I usually don't even bolus through the pump I just use the meter right after I check my BS, and it is just awesome!!  if you have any other questions about it feel free to ask me =)

  • Hey Rob! I have the animas 2020 pump and I've had one for almost 3 years. I think it is great! It's so much better than having to take shots all the time. I have had 3 pumps so far the first 2 broke so they sent me a new one. Mine is green and it is also water proof. I haven't tryed to get in the water with it on yet. I'm kind of afraid that it will mess it up anyway. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask them.

  • Hey there! I have the Accu Chek Spirit pump (not the combo that comes with the PDA, just the pump) and the pump alone isn't really that nice. It just has the basics. Except if that is what you're looking for...

  • Oh yeah! I also seemed to have had some bad luck with mine, the screen has gone blank, the side buttons broke after a lot of pressing for bolusses, etc. But they have great client care and so on! :)

  •     I love my Omnipod.  It's the only pump I've used so far.  I work out all the time,  and have been to the shore for a week this summer and have had no problems with either of these situations.  It really holds up well  with  all that I've exposed it to thus far.  When I was looking at pumps, my decision was between the Animas One Touch Ping and the Omnipod.  The remote function of the pumps is what I really was looking for, and both pumps seem to provide that.  I am grateful for the Omnipod being tube free, because I have a bad habit of trying to cut corners too close and end up running into things too often.  I thought I'd grow out of that;  I guess not.  What are you looking for with your pump?  What features are most important to you?

  • if i do end up trying a pump out, im going with the animas 2020 or the ping.

if i cant get it approved by my insurance..i wont try the pump and will stay on MDI.

the omnipod if you're in the states sounds awesome and i would consider that..but its not available in canada yet.

i've looked at all of them, and out of all the ones available in Canada..I only want the Animas 2020/Ping. it seems like the only REAL flexible one since you dont have to disconnect for showering or swimming.

  • i love my minimed 722 it is really convienent. it is a little bigger than a usual pump but it holds alot of insulin!! i recently got it in pinkl!!!!! it has multiple insertions so peanty to chose from i hope this helps good luck on ur choice!
