age of dx does not determine what you can't or can eat. you do. you learn how to adjust your insulin dose for what you're eating, and you learn to balance. it teaches you skills you need to get by in life, that a majority of people don't understand or learn in their lifetime.

you CAN have kids as a diabetic, but yes it can be harder. it's not impossible. it takes work but the chances of your child being diabetic is only slightly higher than your sister's, your friend's or your co-worker's. it shouldn't prevent you from having a child, and your diabetes shouldn't either.

being a diabetic takes strength. it's not a disease for the weak. you need to find that strength in yourself and use it. whether the people around you understand what you're going through or not, it doesn't matter. you need to find your own strength to deal with it, you don't need to rely on someone else's. you'll have down days, but the good days will be greater and happier.
