My youngest son started first grade this year. His teacher has had both my other Type 1 boys in the past, which is a good thing, right? Problem is, she is comparing my youngest to my other boys. My youngest is a bit slower, more cautious, and not as outgoing as his brothers, but at the same time he has so much to offer. I want her to know how amazing he is...so I wrote this poem to get it all out.

Being a teacher myself, when I read your poem, it brought tears to my eyes. I am soooo sorry to hear that your son's teacher is comparing him to his brothers. That IS NOT fair at all. It might not be a bad idea to share your poem with the teacher. Might open her eyes a little bit! I hope things change.
