Weight gain and lows
Heather Guy
I now weigh more than I have ever weighed in my entire 27 years (I'm 17 pounds overweight according to my scale). About a month ago I started having some odd highs out of nowhere, my husband and I thought I might be pregnant, but that turned out not to be the case. I went to see my endo to adjust...

Does high intensity exercise make your BGs increase 9 to 12 hours later?
Christa
Hey everyone! I have a question that has been bugging me for quite a while: does high intensity exercise make your BGs skyrocket 9 to 12 hours after? I first noticed this when I got my CGM: some nights were off. But I couldn't figure out why. Then I started to pay really close attention and I notices...

While I try to approach my daily life with unending optimism, I am sometimes slapped in the face with a strong dose of realism. So while my general approach to life with the Big D is to take whatever good I can from it and try not to stress about the rest, I too have those rough moments that make me...

Novolog=Weight Gain
acousticmelo
Alright here we go. I have never been overweight or even border line, but now I am creeping ever so slightly over the line. I started taking Novolog (instead of Apidra) at the end of December 2010. Since then I have gained an additional 12 pounds. Now I exercise (cardio and strength), and have a pretty...

The First Step
Meghann
Today I took the first step. I recently had been struggling with daily injections. Not only the injections, but the part where you are supposed to "take-as-directed" part. Since the holiday season had begun (circa November 1, 2010), I started neglecting my need for insulin. I would eat whatever...

Re: Diet!

If your on a pump, you may want to try a reduced basal either before, during, or after the exersize. (or a combination) I started with half basal for 30 minutes, than increased when I kept going low. Also, you may want to take a juice or a snack before you exersize, test in the middle, then test after...

Re: Pump Comparison
Novo Nordique
Wow Katie, thanks for your detailed reply, this info will definately be helpful for others. For my part, I am on a minimed, and so far I think I have made the right choice vs the omnipod, being able to disconnect is a big plus for me. And concerning having the pump clipped on a belt, I'm sure there...

Need a little exercise advice
Ali
I need to get healthy and lose 100+ pounds. I'm joining a gym tomorrow. My blood sugar always crashes when I exercise and I'm not sure what I should eat before I begin exercising. Should I turn my pump off completely while I work out? I really don't want to eat before I exercise for fear...
