September Highlights of the JDRF Advocacy Blog

Hi JDRF Advocates!

September was an exciting month here in JDRF Advocacy. We discussed a range of topics, from 2011 Children's Congress to our brand new Type 1 Talks program. Here is a list of what you might have missed last month:

• Children's Congress was a popular blog topic during September. Jeffrey Brewer, President & CEO of JDRF, even took time out of his busy schedule to send a special message to advocates about the upcoming event. Be sure to view his video here!
  
  The blog also featured a two-part post highlighting the experience of previous Children's Congress delegates. These posts also reminded our advocates that the deadline to apply for the 2011 Children's Congress is coming up this Monday, October 4 at 5 pm.   Yesterday, we announced the winner of of the CC11 Facebook Contest. See who won by clicking watching the video here! You can still submit your application via Facebook or our Children's Congress website. Be sure to reference the tips provided by others who used the Facebook application!

• JDRF's new event, Type 1 Talk, was also discussed on the blog frequently during the month of September. The event will take place on World Diabetes Day on November 14. Click here to read more about our plans for the program. We also want your feedback as we get ready for the event! Please let us know your thoughts on Type 1 Talk through any of the methods listed here.

• We also focused on a two-part post by diabetes blogger Scott Strange about JDRF and the Adult Type 1 audience. If you haven't already, please take the time to check out Scott's posts and leave us a note in the comments of our blog. Click here to view the JDRF Advocacy post on part one, and here for part two.

• We also used the blog to keep advocates up to date on the latest efforts concerning the court case about embryonic stem cell research. You can read about the lift of the initial injunction by an Appeals Court here.

As a reminder, September was our last month that we will be sending out a monthly newsletter via email to all of our advocates. All of the content from the newsletters will now be available on this blog!
