Government Day is coming your way!
Government Day is actually a 4 day event that is part training session, part research update, part networking opportunity, and part celebration of our Advocacy Program. This year, we'll be convening from March 12-March 15 here in the Washington, D.C. area.
Though we can only afford to bring in about 150 volunteers from across the country, we're stepping-up our use of social media to engage the DOC. First, we'll be live-streaming our diabetes blogger round table session on Sunday, March 13, at 2:15pm EDT. It will be streamed through our USTREAM channel. Our discussion will focus on how JDRF's Advocacy Program can more effectively complement the efforts of the DOC moving forward. We'll be taking questions for the round table submitted on USTREAM as well as via Twitter and Facebook.
Second, as we have in year's past, we'll be live-tweeting the entire event, under the hashtag #JDRFGovDay.
Finally, we'll be adding more photos and video of the event this year. We'll be adding VLOG entries over the four days here on the Advocacy Blog, complete with advocate stories and reaction from participants. Event photos will be posted on our Facebook fan page.
Please take some time to join us!
If you have any questions about Government Day or if you have ideas for how we can generate more engagement from the DOC, let me know in the comments below.
Thanks!
Fantastic!!! I LOVE IT!
How do i connect to the upstream Channel??
Looking forward to it!
I will be joining this in DC thIs year. This will be my first time to go. I can hardly contain my excitement.
So can't wait!
Let our Goverment know TPYE 1 Diabetes unlike type 2 is not a choice we have to make. More type 2's have more offered to them and they are the ones who abused thier bodies. Type 1 is not a choice in lifestyle and you can't make it go away!!!!
Looking forward to seeing you all as well!
Michelle, we'll do!
Totally looking forward to it!
SO EXCITED!
Second time trying to leave a comment - hope it gets thru!
Very much looking forward to this weekend!!
I noticed that you do not have a parent blogger joining the blogging round table discussion. The DOC is filled with many parent bloggers who work very hard at balancing the demands of life while maintaining and active blog. Hallie from The Princess and The Pump is a perfect example and it just so happens that she will be in DC for this event. It would be great if you could invite her to participate in the round table discussion. Thanks!
I am excited to see the JDRF embracing social media and am very much looking forward to the round table discussion tomorrow. I would really have loved to see some parent bloggers participating in this event alongside the PWD's. If you could get Hallie of The Princeess and The Pump blog in on the round table tomorrow I think it would be really fantastic and appreciated by many of us in the DOC. Thank you for hosing this wonderful event and for considering the parent blogger demographic for future events!
Why were parent bloggers excluded from the roundtable? This is extremely disappointing to me as a type 1 mom. I am a big fan of the bloggers that were included, but feel a whole group was missed with the selection. Please let us know what will be done to rectify this oversight in 2012. Thank You.
March was our busiest month yet! We launched our first activation of the year, and I want to make sure
Anita Martinez from Minneapolis, MN is! If you all remember, a few months back we relaunched our Type
