This week is National Volunteer Week, and here at JDRF Advocacy we wanted to take a minute to thank you for all that you do! Throughout the year, everyone in our nationwide network of advocates works tirelessly to ensure their Members of Congress are aware of issues important to finding a cure for diabetes. Your visits, phone calls, emails, and letters to your legislators are what make JDRF one of the most effective advocacy organizations, and we could not reach the goals that we have without you!
Your hard work particularly paid off this week when it came to getting your Members of Congress to sign onto a letter to FDA Commissioner Hamburg about the need for guidance for artificial pancreas research. By the time the House letter closed yesterday, 240 Members had signed the letter in the House! This amounts to a majority in that chamber, and we could not have obtained that many signatures without the actions of JDRF advocates across the nation. The Senate letter currently has 33 signatories. The Senate letter is still open, so please make sure to call your Senators today if you have not already!
Again, on behalf of the JDRF Advocacy team, thank you for all that you do for JDRF, and happy National Volunteer Week!
Fantastic news!
And THANK YOU, to our JDRF staff in DC for making us particularly effective in our volunteer work. We couldn't ask for better partners.
Where can I view the text of the letter to to FDA Commissioner Hamburg ? I called Ohio Senator Rob Portman's office and spoke with and aid. They were not aware of any letter. I would like to be able to e-mail something back to them.
