The first day I was sick was Dec. 7, 1942, one year after Pearl Harbor. Diagnosis came a couple of days later, and I spent one whole month, including Christmas and New Years, in the hospital.

sometime in January '88. Mom's a nurse, so she sorta had an inclination in the weeks leading up, though.
It seems like a lot of Nov - Jan timeframes. I wonder if it is related to something we do during colder seasons. Here are some new ideas for cause:
hot chocolate in plastic cups of some sort,
gas heaters,
or a particular medicine we take for colds.

None of your suggested triggers fits my Dec 1942 time frame, but I believe there have been more dx during those winter months.
