Every male endo. that I have seen says hormones have nothing to do with sugar levels, even though I have proof that says otherwise. The week before my cycle I can barely get my sugar below 300 for about 4 days! I like you have had diabetes a long time. I am 49 and in May I will have had diabetes for 40 years. I too have been blessed with a relatively "normal" life, if there is such a thing with diabetes. I am a mother of two and grandmother of 2 and a 5th grade teacher. The disease is starting to take a toll on me now :( I have all those little complications that noone mentioned so many years ago, gastroparesis, neuropathy, hypertension, etc. etc. On top of all that the beginnings of arthritis so I am getting pretty tired. Had been on the pump for almost 10 years, but had 2 site infections last year that led to surgery and the fact that the insulin for whatever reason wasn't getting absorbed and now I am back on injections. Anyway, thanks for letting me "chat"! Nice to "know" someone else in the same boat.

Just read part of your comment here and was thrilled to see another woman who has trouble during certain parts of the month. Every male endo. that I have seen says hormones have nothing to do with sugar levels, even though I have proof that says otherwise. The week before my cycle I can barely get my sugar below 300 for about 4 days! I def feel its a competative field, especially in NY but you just have to be determined.. I also feel the same way i am not a techie and sometimes find it difficult with the web cause theres so much tech stuff, but i try to only stick to designing pretty sites :) I too feel T1 has helped me to be a little more regulated in every day life. I have always had a greater appreciation for life because I realized early on I was not invincable. Of course I have my days too but I do not beat myself up over it anymore! Im so glad I joined juvenation and are able to hear stories of awesome happy healthy people like you (and bart) thank you! talk soon!

I love cats and that is such a cute story! my boyfriends aunt actually has a diabetic cat that she has to give insulan too every day !

I would never want to do anything else except make pretty things for a living... I am working more in web now than print and its great.. and challenging! I love the positive energy, I too do not believe we are doomed and it makes me so happy to hear your story... and makes me feel less alone being a syringe user. I have come across a few other syringe users on the site but I am still greatly outnumbered and still have no plans whatsoever of using the pump. I dont want the scarring, the device attached to me the list goes on! BTW... is that your cat?

Thats so awesome that you are a Graphic Designer too - isnt it great?
